There are countless events that allow you to run for a good cause. The problem is, most of them are 5Ks, half-marathons and marathons that require you to run distances that make the average person cower to their couch.
Fortunately, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery’s Copper Classic only requires you to cover 1,000 yards (0.568 miles), and you don’t even have to run it (in fact, Justin Moore of sublmnldesign is currently trying to “figure out the logistics of dogsledding it”). You can “run, walk, whatever” to help raise money and awareness for Pints for Prostates, a local charitable organization committed to fighting prostate cancer through the “universal language of beer”.
As if that wasn’t enough of an incentive to run, walk or whatever for 1,000 yards, runners will also receive a t-shirt, a plate of food, and two pints of Olde Mecklenburg beer. There will also be live music from 1-4 p.m.
Tickets for the Copper Classic are $25, with a portion of the proceeds going to Pints for Prostates. Registration for the race begins at 10 a.m., with the race starting at noon. Beer and food will be served until 8 p.m.
