Beer & Wine Hobbies Monroe to Open in November

Beer and Wine Hobbies Monroe

A new franchise of Beer and Wine Hobbies Int’l, aka “Alternative Beverage,” will open in Monroe in late October (Edit: the store actually opened on Friday, Nov. 9). This will be the fourth location for Beer and Wine Hobbies Int’l, which also has homebrew stores in Belmont, Mooresville and on South Blvd. With the opening of 201central in Wesley Chapel this month, that will also make two locations selling homebrew supplies in Union County, where previously there were none.

As a franchise of Beer and Wine Hobbies Int’l, Beer and Wine Hobbies Monroe will feature most of the products available at the South Blvd. and Mooresville locations. If they don’t have an item that these locations have, they can special order it for pick up at the Monroe location.

They will also carry most of the Brewmaster’s Select kits that you’ll find at these shops, as well as a selection of 55 specialty malts, 38 varieties of hops (flower and pellet) and yeasts. Of course, they’ll carry equipment and ingredients for winemaking, too.

General Manager Travis Caudle says that he and Owner Tom Caudle have witnessed the growth of local craft beer and wine in NC and think that Monroe will be a good fit for the franchise.

“We believe Union County and the surrounding region is in need of a local source for these supplies,” said Travis. “Many of the products associated with home beer and wine making can be prohibitively expensive when ordered online and shipped, and the lack of a local store has left hobbyists of this area without a convenient source of supplies and information.”

Travis has brewed with Brewmaster’s Select kits and supplies for three years, and will be moving to all-grain brewing soon. Tom has been making wine from whole fruit and concentrates for almost six years.

The two are currently stocking the store, which is located at 1323 West Roosevelt Blvd. (note the Cook-Out in the background). They plan to open the last week of October; when they are open, their hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
