Edit: Tickets for the Queen City Brewers Festival have sold out!
The second-annual Queen City Brewers Festival (QCBF) will return to the Neighborhood Theatre again next year on Saturday, February 2, 2013. This festival is unique in that it features only Charlotte-area breweries.
“The first-ever QCBF was a tremendous success thanks to the support we received from the Charlotte community,” said event organizer Nils Weldy. “QCBF is a more intimate tasting festival that lets the spotlight shine on our Charlotte-area breweries and gives beer lovers the unique opportunity to sample a variety of locally brewed beer all under one roof.”
As Nils said, this is a more intimate festival (which is one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much last year), so ticket sales are limited. There will be two tasting sessions: 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Admission is $25 per session and tickets go on sale Thursday, December 6 at 11 a.m.
Each brewery will showcase its full lineup of beers and brewers are encouraged to bring one “super” flavor or style of beer especially for QCBF, as the event takes place the day before the Super Bowl. There will be Charlotte-based food vendors, works by local artists, live music and yours truly will be there for the first signing of “Charlotte Beer: A History of Brewing in the Queen City.”
Proceeds from the festival will benefit Partners for Parks, a nonprofit, nonpartisan foundation that seeks to promote and enhance parks, recreation and open space in neighborhoods throughout Mecklenburg County and the surrounding area.
