“Is there anything a man don’t stand to lose,
When the devil wants to take it all away,
Cherish well your thoughts, keep a tight grip on your booze,
‘Cause thinking and drinking are all I have today.”
So sang the Grateful Dead, whose lyrics from “MexiCali Blues” have inspired Birdsong Brewing’s newest beer, MexiCali Stout. They debuted this beer as a pilot batch offering last November, but due to its popularity the brewery is bringing it back with a release party at the taproom from 5-10 p.m. on Thursday, January 24.
Here’s how Birdsong Brewing describes the beer:
A strong coffee and cinnamon aroma complements a smooth chocolate taste with just a hint of chile spice. We used local coffee and fresh spices to create this unique blend. The MexiCali stout balances both sweet and spicy elements for a delightful taste that will have you ordering another pint before you’ve even finished the first.
Tasting Notes: Cinnamon, Chocolate, Chile spice
DJ Nolan Walker will be playing at the taproom as well. Right now, the brewery is unsure if they’ll be selling growlers of this beer.
